THE VILLAGE
Nestling in a natural setting of pine forests, ochre and white rocks, lowland vineyards and terraced vineyards stretching right down to the Mediterranean Sea, Cassis is protected by two natural monuments: the Cap Canaille (the highest sea cliff in Europe) glowing red in the mistral winds and the Calanques of white limestone.
THE VINEYARD
The Vignoble de Cassis was one of the very first appellations d'origine contrôlée in 1936 (along with Sauternes and Chateauneuf-du-Pape). Remarkably, it is planted exclusively in the commune of Cassis, in the shelter of Cap Canaille, the highest maritime cliff in France, plunging 400 metres into the Mediterranean.
THE CALANQUES NATIONAL PARK
Majestic cliffs, sea as far as the eye can see and exceptional flora and fauna make up the dream setting of the Parc national des Calanques.
This site, the only one of its kind in the world, offers nature lovers a wide range of activities.
